Weird Al Turned Down Million-Dollar Beer Endorsement; Makes Him Want To Polka His Eyes Out

Regrets. I’ve had a few. But then again, too few to mention. “Weird” Al has about $5 million regrets and they all have to do with a beer endorsement he turned down years ago.

The musical prankster told Mojo Magazine that he was offered five million dollars to become the ongoing spokesman for a beer brand. And to this day he still thinks about the decision to turn down the offer.

He said he turned it down because, “a lot of my fans were young and impressionable, so ethically I believe I did the right thing, but not a day goes by when I don’t think, ‘Hmm, an extra five million dollars would really come in handy’.”

You’ve got to admire Al for turning down that much dough to peddle an alcoholic beverage but you’ve got to admit beer companies are pretty damn scummy when it comes to who they target and how they go about their chicanery. It should be obvious they were trying to reach an incredibly young demographic, the kids that bought Al’s albums and watched his videos in the early days of MTV.

After this article hit the web, Al took to Twitter to discuss the how he never “regretted the decision” and still stands by it to this say. He just could have use the money.

See. It’s not always about the Pentiums. Benjamins. Whatever.
