Dec. 15 - Today, as a direct result of my show, “Dr. Botox”, on egotv, I am facing harsh criticism and judgments from others. Although one character in the show has expressed great anger to me, the most intense criticism has come from others. A specific individual has attacked my integrity, my character, and my professional ethics, and has threatened to ruin my reputation and to ruin my career, unless I alter or remove the current episodes.
I am writing this response for three main reasons: as an apology to the person portrayed as my girlfriend on the show, because it was never my intent to hurt or embarrass her.
Second, to respond to the intimidation by others, and last, to be consistent with my main objective in doing this show in the first place, to point out how many of my actions, feelings and decisions are born out of my own ego.
So although I do sincerely feel bad if anybody has been hurt, I am not going to alter the show. I have not revealed the identity of any unwilling participants in the show, and I have followed and adhered to all agreements made between all parties involved. It was my attempts at communicating this to others, which lead to the threats and criticism.
This dispute had lead to my awakening and my realization that my relationship with this girl was pure fantasy. I am neither proud nor ashamed of our relationship. I readily admit to making some poor decisions that were made to somehow enhance my own image of myself. It has been pointed out by others that I am foolish, that I am ruining my career, that I am after my fifteen minutes of fame and care nothing about others. To those who share this opinion, I disagree. The purpose of this self-reflection and evaluation is to expose those poor decisions that I have made. We take life way too seriously.
If my admission and sharing of my own weaknesses and follies can in any way enhance the ability of others to recognize the same in them self, then that is perhaps just as powerful as anything I could accomplish as a plastic surgeon.
