Joe Paterno was fired as the Head Coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions. After serving as Penn State’s Head Football Coach since 1966, Joe Paterno was dismissed due to his involvement in covering up, or at least being complicit in covering up, child sexual abuse allegations against one of his former assistant coaches. Aside from a whole lot of innocent children being abused by a sexual deviant, the incident scars Joe Paterno’s brilliant legacy as the Head Coach of the Penn State Football program, during which he took his team to 24 Bowl Championships (including 5 undefeated seasons), earned a spot in the College Football Hall of Fame, and boasts more wins than any other FBS football coach in history. In short, he’s a legendary college football coach, and it sucks to go down like this. The scandal is still unfolding, so enjoy this collection of Joe Paterno photos in the meantime:

    1. So sad that his entire legacy will be overshadowed by Sandusky’s acts. He didn’t want to help Sandusky. He wanted to protect the program and it’s integrity. He now wishes he had done more. Should have fired Sandusky on the spot.
