The cable TV network FX is preparing to debut a gritty street drama called Untitled Jersey City Project. So far, the exact storyline of the show may seem like a complete mystery (and the show’s enigmatic title doesn’t help much either), but here’s what we know about Untitled Jersey City Project: it’s less like a standard, run-of-the-mill gritty crime drama, and more like an unprecedented experiment in television programming. The eight-episodes in the upcoming series are fragments of a larger story that’s set in the hyper-developing Jersey City, just across the water from Manhattan. Jersey City might be a rapidly growing business hub, but street rules still apply. When two eager developers strike a lucrative deal to build property in the neighborhood, they’ll have to navigate the rough Jersey City streets, encounter all the major players, and adapt to the tougher, grittier world of Jersey City business. In short, the show sounds a lot like a modern day Boardwalk Empire, complete with shady businessmen, devious moguls, and the guys who are just trying to do the right thing and make some money at the same time.
