Believe it or not, iPods didn’t always exist. People used to have to listen to music on giant, 30-pound battery-operated stereos called ghetto blasters that they had to carry around on their shoulders. Ghetto blasters became an iconic image of the 80′s, particularly as a staple of life in the (you guessed it) ghettos, where people couldn’t afford fancy technological feats like a Walkman or a Discman.
