As eCommerce has revolutionized the method of doing business on the Internet, so, too, has the thousands of apps that have appeared for the mobile phone market. The most famous of these app catalogs, the iPhone App Store has generated 4 billion downloads, totaling more than $3 billion in revenue.

Online MBA has an infographic that illustrates the basic history and evolution of each mobile company’s app catalog to show the direction the app business is heading towards.
