    Being on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine is a thrill few musical artists will ever experience. It’s such an honor that the band Dr. Hook once wrote a song about how often they’ve been snubbed, even though they do all the things required: sell records, do drugs and enjoy the love of strangers called groupies.

    Even though the magazine has lost some credibility (saying Black Eyed Peas are a reason to be excited about music — in the year 2011) being on the cover is still a big deal. Here are some classic covers and musical acts that have had their moment on the cover.
