The other day a friend of mine sent me the link to this public service announcement. It was in huge rotation when we were kids on a local station that played cartoons for a couple hours every morning. I’d forgotten all about it.

Here are ten memorable PSA’s from childhood. The message is stay off crack, blame your dad for pot and Pee Wee Herman can’t be taken seriously.

Not only did I forget all about the commercial, I had no idea it also inspired some of the lyrics for the Busta Rhymes tune “Dangerous.” Who knew? It got me thinking about some of the other popular PSA’s from when we were little boogers. Did they really teach us anything or where they just a part of our childhood kind of like cartoons, comics and candy? Maybe it was subliminal. Maybe it had more of an effect than we realized. Maybe they were just memorable because they were hysterically corny.
