A Hundred Years of Fine Looking Ladies

It’s the end of the decade, and there’s more “best-of-the-aughts” lists floating around cyberspace than you can shake a stick at. So we decided, if we’re going to assemble a collection of desirable women from years past on EgoTV, why stop at ten years? How about a hundred? They did make pretty girls back in grandpa’s day, too. Grandma was quite a looker, he’ll have you know.
So below is a nod to the smoking ladies of yesteryear, our favorites from each decade.
The 1920’s- Clara Bow
One of the most famous practitioners of flapper style, Clara Bow ruled Hollywood through the 1920s. She caused huge uproars when she-gasp!- appeared in sleeveless dresses. The horror! The horror!
The 1930’s- Lillian Bond
Lillian was a British B-movie actress who scored roles because of her stunning beauty, not her acting ability. This would not be the last time that happened in Hollywood.
The 1940s- Veronica Lake
Kim Basinger’s character in LA Confidential was a prostitute “cut to” look like actress Veronica Lake. Here’s what Ms. Lake really looked like. Not too shabby.
The 1950s- Jayne Mansfield
Actress Jayne Mansfield led a very interesting life- beloved the world over, posed for Playboy, then married Mr. Universe, spawning Law and Order SVU’s Mariska Hargitay. A Playboy centerfold and a competitive weightlifter. That Detective Benson has some interesting parents.
The 1960s- Sophia Loren
Say what you will about Grumpy Old Men Sophia Loren, but in the 1960s? God damn if she didn’t have her thing down.
The 1970s- Farrah Fawcett
Who else? As we all know, Farrah finally succumbed to cancer this year. R.I.P., you pearly-white toothed goddess.
The 1980s- Paulina Porizkova
There’s a lot of great girls we could’ve gone to for the 80’s, but Paulina gets the nod because she was a) a really hot Eastern European model (huge in the Me decade!) and b) married The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek. That’s dedication to a decade!
The 1990’s- Sharon Stone
Why Sharon Stone? Because I got to see Basic Instinct when I was twelve, that’s why. Thanks, neighbor kid’s older brother!
The Aughts-Megan Fox
Megan Fox is the fine lookin’ lady of the moment. I’m guessing it’s not because of her predilection for having bad poetry injected into her side.
