Esquire has just announced their Sexiest Woman Alive and the winner is… Kate Beckinsale!

Huh? We definitely did not see that coming! Since Vampires (actually Succubuses… Succubi? – that sounds better…) are all the rage, we would have thought Megan Fox would come out on top (don’t we wish!) since she has been the Woman of the Moment since April, at least. But a quick check of IMDB reveals something we forgot. Kate IS a Vampire! Or was… actually is, since her character from Underworld makes a return in the upcoming Underworld 4.

IMDB also reveals that Beckinsale is 36… hmmm. Is Esquire making a play to solidify its position as a fan of the “Just Under 40 But Still Blazing Hot” set? Must be.

Now we know why Ben Affleck signed on to the bombing run that became Pearl Harbor… any chance to bag that fine booty, even on a suicide mission, is just too hard to resist. Sign me up!

Esquire also has the enviable task of getting a close look at all the runners up throughout the year with a monthly feature, “Women We Love” that gives their writers a chance to have lunch with these lovelys and secretly drool a bit before the neutered photographer shows up. And they’ve just posted the collection from 2009. Yep! Megan Fox is on the list. She’s Miss June, so Esquire is not too far behind the curve.
